With the last 3 weeks a blur of mom going in the hospital and sadly passing away this past Monday from her 3 month battle with lung cancer, I haven't been able to celebrate or even post about Pride Month, and this year is more important than ever as we see rights for our Trans Community quickly disappearing and civil rights for all eroding under the current political climate. I hope you are all finding some way to celebrate, with family, friends or full out at a Pride Festival near you..........Happy Pride......Scott
June is like no other month, bursting with rainbows, glitter, community, and fierce celebration. But while Pride Month is profoundly fun, itâs also deeply rooted in struggle, courage, and resilience that deserve our reverence as much as our revelry.
Here we are, June 11, 2025, right in the heart of Pride. Whether youâre marching in a parade, hosting a virtual event, shopping queer-owned businesses, or just soaking in the community spirit, take a moment to embrace the joy and honor the history behind this annual phenomenon.
This blog post unpacks the vibrant journey of Pride, celebrates todayâs unstoppable energy, and encourages all of us to keep pushing toward a more inclusive, empowered tomorrow. Ready? Letâs go!
1. đ Pride Today: A Month of Joy, Visibility, and Connection
Mid-June signals the pulse of Pride Month, the moment when cities everywhere splash color, music, and activism in full spectrum. What started as a riot has transformed into an international recognition of identity, love, and unity. Events are more than parties, theyâre lifelines for community, empowerment, and visibility.
Fun fact:Â The rainbow flagâs colors represent diversity within the LGBTQ+ community. Each stripe holds meaning: red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sunlight, green for nature, blue for serenity, and violet for spirit.
This monthâs celebrations amplify voices of queer artists, activists, and entrepreneurs, people who embody pride in all their multidimensional selves. Itâs a time to safely embrace authenticity and wage visibility.
2. đłïžâđ The Revolutionary Roots of Pride Month
Pride wouldnât be what it is without remembering June 1969âs Stonewall Riots. Those spontaneous demonstrations sparked in New York City after years of police raids targeting LGBTQ+ venues. Stonewall was a turning point, marking a shift from oppressive fear to defiant activism. In the aftermath, the first Pride marches arose exactly one year later, June 28, 1970, setting a precedent for annual LGBTQ+ visibility events worldwide.
Key figures like Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera remind us that Prideâs foundation honors the bravery of queer people of color and transgender activists whose voices once fought to be seen and heard.
3. đ Pride Progress: Celebrating Queer Wins and Momentum
From the darkest days to dazzling milestones, Pride reminds us of how far we've come.
Marriage equality is now law in many countries, a tremendous victory for love and recognition.
Anti-discrimination protections continue to expand in workplaces, schools, and housing.
Queer culture thrives in media, arts, and business, fueling representation and economic power.
Intersectional advocacy is growing, spotlighting issues for trans folks, queer people of color, and differently-abled community members.
Yet, Pride also reveals work yet to be done, especially in the face of ongoing challenges to rights and safety worldwide.
4. âš How to Celebrate Pride Authentically and Impactfully
Itâs easy to get caught up in glam and parties, and Pride absolutely should be joyful! But meaningful celebration intertwines fun with education, allyship, and community support.
Support queer-owned businesses and creators. Share their stories and buy their products.
Amplify marginalized voices within the LGBTQ+ spectrum, especially trans and BIPOC community members.
Engage in local or virtual activism sign petitions, volunteer, or donate to queer causes.
Educate yourself and others on Pride history and current struggles beyond the festivities.
Practice intentional visibility by being your true self or an active ally in everyday life.
Remember, Pride is a lifestyle, not just a month.
5. đ Encouragement for the Middle of Pride Month and Beyond
Sometimes mid-month can feel like an energy dip, like the festive opening has passed but the month still has weeks to go. Hereâs a truth: pride isnât just for June, itâs a 365-day commitment.
Let your pride fuel your work, creativity, and relationships every day.
Carry the momentum into cultivating kindness, inclusion, and joy wherever you go.
Celebrate small wins and find community in even quiet moments.
Share your story, your unique journey gives others courage to live theirs boldly.
The magic of Pride lies in enduring authenticity and relentless hope.
6. đ€ Voices from the Community: What Pride Means in 2025
Queer creators and activists continue to reinvent what Pride means. Hereâs what some have shared about their prism of Pride:
âPride is my daily armor and my party, a reminder that I have the power to love unapologetically.â â Casey, non-binary artist
âItâs about honoring the past while building a future where every queer kid feels seen and safe.â â Alisha, LGBTQ+ youth mentor
âItâs a radical act to exist and thrive in a world that tries to erase us.â â Jamal, Black trans advocate
Their words remind us how Pride is personal, political, and profoundly powerful.
7. đłïžââ§ïž Spotlight: Celebrating Trans and Non-Binary Pride Within Pride
June also welcomes amplified recognition of transgender and non-binary experiences, especially following Trans Day of Visibility in March. This spotlight encourages celebration of gender diversity and sparks awareness about the serious issues trans people face, from healthcare access to legal protections.
Supporting trans and non-binary folks during Pride means showing up in solidarity, fighting for their rights, and ensuring their stories are part of the Pride narrative.
8. đ Pride in Business: Queer Entrepreneurs Shaping Culture
Pride Month highlights not only community but the growing influence of LGBTQ+ business leaders. Queer entrepreneurs are infusing industries with bold innovation, inclusive marketing, and authentic storytelling; building brands deeply aligned with their values and communities.
Supporting queer-owned businesses this Pride means investing in a future shaped by diversity, equity, and authentic representation.
