Spring into the Weekend with the LGBTQ+ Business Community

It's Friday, the gateway to the first weekend of spring—a perfect moment to reflect, rejuvenate, and rejoice.

In this post, we'll explore ways to:

  • Reconnect With Our Community through local events and gatherings.

  • Keep Friday For You don't make any plans from the time you open your door at home.

  • Breakfast Rules enjoy your Sunday breaking bread with friends or associates.

  • Reading is Fundamental whether for business or pleasure, find a spot, and a beverage

  • Take The Time To Move, find time to move your body at home or out in nature

  • Manifest Your Goals it's always smart to plan ahead, but don't forget to dream

1. Reconnect and Rejoice: Local Events to Kickstart Spring

Feeling the itch to get out and mingle? This weekend offers a bouquet of events tailored for the LGBTQ+ community in just about every city. Find out what's in your neck of the woods. I am based in NE Ohio an hour east of Cleveland and an hour west of Pittsburgh, PA. This weekend I am heading to Cleveland:

Cleveland Pride Band: Everything's Coming Up Broadway

Ever wondered how Broadway classics sound with a prideful twist?

This Saturday, March 22, 2025, the Cleveland Pride Band is set to dazzle with their concert, "Everything's Coming Up Broadway." It's a harmonious blend of classic show tunes reimagined through the lens of LGBTQ+ experiences. Attending such events not only offers entertainment but also strengthens community bonds.

Practical Tip: Read your local entertainment section of the newspaper and find events that you might enjoy this weekend. Also checkout Facebook Events for ideas. If you have a local Pride Center, check with their calendar of events.

2. Digital Detox & Bubble Bath Bliss As Soon As You Get Home On Your Friday

Ever feel like your brain has too many browser tabs open? Take the time to decompress on Friday's and save the big plans for Saturday or Sunday.

A digital detox is a quick ticket to peace. Make Friday night just for YOU. Leave your phone in a separate room. Switch off notifications, ditch the doomscrolling, and indulge in a bath or hot tub if you have one, with your favorite scented oils or bath bombs. Have one cocktail or two, but save the partying for Saturday night or Sunday Brunch. Add a playlist of queer indie artists or LGBTQ+ affirming podcasts, and voilà—instant oasis. Of course, I am a single guy, if you have a family, maybe order in Pizza, have a family game night at home with everyone and then indulge a bit after.

Pro Tip: Lavender oil reduces anxiety and improves sleep quality. Just a few drops in the tub or a home humidifier or diffuser, can work wonders.

3. Brunch & Self-Expression

Speaking of Brunch: because breakfast without champagne is just a sad morning.

Gather a few friends—chosen family, allies, or fellow LGBTQ+ business pros—and hit up a local LGBTQ+-friendly café or restaurant. If you have to work on Sundays, Maybe host your own potluck-style brunch, with everyone from the office bringing a dish. Bonus points for themed outfits or drag brunch vibes at home. The key is connection and laughter over lattes.

Pro Tip: If you're joined by other lgbtq business professionals, start a “Gratitude Round” where everyone shares one win from the past week—big or small.

4. Queer Reads and Cozy Corners

Books are like warm hugs you can carry. Switch it up each weekend between reading for business and pleasure.

Curl up in a sunlit nook with a good LGBTQ+ memoir, romance, or business book by a queer author. Whether it’s Glennon Doyle’s Untamed or Casey McQuiston’s Red, White & Royal Blue, or "The Glass Closet: Why Coming Out Is Good Business" by John Browne, reading nourishes the mind and soul.

Pro Tip: Try setting up a “reading date” with yourself—just an hour of uninterrupted book time and your favorite beverage.

5. Move That Beautiful Body

Because movement is medicine—and joy!

Go for a walk in the park, try a yoga flow designed for LGBTQ+ bodies, or dance around your living room like nobody’s watching. Movement isn’t about punishment—it’s about reclaiming space and reconnecting with yourself. Spring has sprung officially and if the weather is nice, head outside. Personally, I'm blessed with many lakes and nature trails near me, so explore you're area and find a safe place to get out and enjoy a couple hours.

Pro Tip: Search YouTube for queer-friendly instructors or body-positive, or advanced movement classes. It makes a world of difference.

6. Vision Boarding for Joy

Manifesting isn’t just for crystal lovers.

Grab some magazines, scissors, and glue, or use a digital platform like Pinterest or Canva to create a joy-focused vision board. What lights you up? What kind of joy, love, and success do you want this season? Make it visual and vivid. Make a board for personal goals and business goals. Make it for the year or the week ahead, just make one. This is another activity where if you have a family, they can all participate as well.

Pro Tip: Make a mini version to save as your phone background—a daily reminder of your goals and dreams.

As we step into this first weekend of spring, let's remember that our strength lies in our unity, diversity, and authenticity. By engaging in community events, investing in personal growth, celebrating our identities, supporting one another, and prioritizing self-care, we cultivate a thriving ecosystem where every individual and business can flourish.

Let's embrace this season of renewal with open hearts, ready to plant new seeds and watch them bloom. Here's to a vibrant spring filled with connection, growth, and unbridled joy.
